big bang
While traveling on interstate 76 in PA going up a grade we heard a very loud bang which seemed to come from under my Winnebago Vista 35F. There was no immediate reaction from the rig and it continued to run smoothly. We went to the next exit and pulled into a parking lot and checked all the tires, under the rig and the towed vehicle and could not find any problems.
The rest of the trip which was over 200 miles went without a hitch, but we were on pins and needles waiting for the next shoe to drop. Now, I don't know if this loud noise was really from our rig or some other source. I will continue to monitor to see if any problems occur, but wonder if anyone has had a similar experience?

I had a guy in a van blow out a tire once while just starting to pass me. It was so loud I thought it was from my rig. Only reason I knew it was him is he went to the left sholder vice the right.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I too hate hearing unfamiliar noises while traveling but from what you describe, I'm thinking you may have just picked up some road debris which a tire threw into the undercarriage causing the one time noise.
Best of luck
Rick

Those kinds of sounds are always heart-stoppers. Been there, done that, have the grey hairs to prove it. Since you checked your tires & undercarriage with no visual consequences, I'd also go along w/what Rick stated. Tires spinning at 60mph (give or take some mph) can make any piece of road debris sound like a cannon shot when the piece hits underneath. Just keep watch for a while for something that may not have been immediately noticeable.

Can you get underneath to see if there is anything "hanging" that looks like it was attached to something or a spot that is too clean to not have had something attached to it. Any oil spots on the pad now that you are parked?
Did you notice anything laying on the road as you were driving? Did the coach give a little "bump" like you drove over something?
Does not sound like anything came out from under the MH and hit the toad as you would have noticed the damage. Could it have been something with the hitch for the toad (bars adjusting, etc, just guessing here)?
Most likely nothing to worry about but until you either find what caused the bang or you drive long enough to gain the confidence that nothing is wrong it will be worrisome.
Best of luck.

Welcome to the forum. Was it a windy day ? My awning would begin to unfurl on very windy days ( usually out West ) and when the roller retracted it slammed against the coach and made a gut wrenching bang.

We had the same thing happen, and did the same as you. I try to do all my own maintainence, so I frequently check the underside and chassis the best that I can. I have yet to find any damage and it has not happend again. I can only guess that, like mentioned earlier, it was a rock or something hitting the underside of the MH.

Welcome to the forum.
As others have mentioned , possible it was someone else's problem and you just happened to be close enough to think it was from your rig.
On a recent trip, a semi , going the opposite way 200 yards behind us, blew a trailer tire , and my DW had me pull over and check, even though , I'd seen the dust and smoke from the rig, could not convince her , that it was not our problem.
For now you've done what you can.
Safe travels.

I have heard big bangs on two occasions
One was a bicycle tire, You would be amazed at how big a bang those can make.
The other, was my engine (OUCH!!!!!!!) and the reaction from the rig was immediate .
