Don't think you can without probing around the control board (on the basement air unit.) Maybe somebody else has a trick for this.

Of course you can always use a 50>30 amp adapter and then use the EMS ammeter.

You can tell by the vibration hetrodine of the two against each other.

Since they don't start at the same time, I turn the system on and then walk outside. Somewhere around 1.5-2 minutes after the first one starts, the outside blower shuts down, then #2 kicks on and the blower starts back up. When myh #2 had some burned wiring & bad start capacitor, it would try & fail to start several times. I could hear it's repeated attempts to start inside if all was quiet. If you can't tell from the sound (not easy), perhaps you could put a multi-meter across the breaker for #2. My breakers are under the bed, and not all that difficult to get access behind them if I wanted to. ...well, not all that difficult when the DW isn't taking a nap there like she is now

turn your onan on or set the amps for 30 amps on the panal then watch your amp meter...14 to 18 om 1 compressor..when #2 licks on, it will jump to 22 to 24 amps. RKL

I used to just turn on the A/C and watch the AMP meter. Comp. #1 would pull about 12 AMP than #2 would draw another 12 AMP. After running it would show about 18 AMP draw both running.

About 6 weeks ago my TrueAir would not turn on #2 compressor on A/C and would only run #2 compressor on heat pump. I was convinced my thermostat was shot and needed to be replaced. I disconnected the 12 volt power to the coach, let it sit for a minute and re powered the coach. The thermostat reset it self and worked fine after that. I wonder how many thermostats have been replaced that only need to be rebooted?

I have brought up before about resetting the thermestat. You can do it also by removing it. Taking out the glass fuse for about 30 seconds. Than reinstall after placing the fuse back in.
