I hesitate to say this but, IF yours is like ours, then yes, you "should" have a wind sensor in the upper right corner of the awning arm, as you look at that side of the coach. It should be the same place as the motor. I have no idea how they work other than if the wind starts blowing or some gusts start to appear, the fabric will start to "flap" in the breeze so to speak and, that will "shake" that sensor in the tip of that awning arm. Now, just what it takes to trigger that sensor is or, can be the issue with your awning.
I really see no other reason for the "auto retraction" you're having. I also don't have a clue as to what they look like, and how to trouble shoot them when issues arise that may concern them. About the only thing I can suggest might be to deploy that awning, then, right after it's all the way out, shut down the power to it. And, that may be done by finding the fuse that controls that awning system first.
Now, you'll be able to climb up on a short ladder, (be careful)
and maybe remove the black plastic cover(s), (again, this is ASSUMING that yours is just like ours) and see what you can see, in determining the status of that wind sensor. If you can determine that it's right there in front of you, (again, I have no idea what it looks like) and it has wires that go to it, maybe you can disconnect them to see if the awning still "auto retracts" after the power is turned back on.
Now, this is also assuming you want to tackle this. I've been diving into stuff like that forever. Sometimes I get myself into trouble doing it but
, what the heck, it's worth a try. Besides, you learn about stuff that way.
One more thing, on ours, (again, may or may not be the same as yours) we have three black toggles that operate that awning system. The first switch is the power switch. It has three positions. 1, power direct, 2, OFF, 3, Wind controlled power.
The second toggle also has three positions, 1. Low wind effect, 2, medium wind effect, and 3, high Wind effect.
The third toggle is, simply a two, spring loaded switch. Push on one end and the awning extends. Push on the other end, the awning retracts. So, there's some info for you if any of it can apply. Let us know what you find out so that others may learn if and when they might run into the same situation.
