Aussie Grill

I have tried to use the Aussie grill that came with my Vista 29VE several times but it cooks way too hot. On low it gets to around 500 degrees. I called the manufacturer, Meco and the only suggestion they had was to cook with the lid open. That might work for some food but not most. Anyone else have this issue? Thinking about switching to a Weber grill.

Don't just think about it, do it. You'll be happier with a Weber. Q2200 is a nice model if you've got room, but it has a regulator. If your propane supply is already reduced/regulated, you may have to replumb the propane BBQ quick connect (if you have one) to before the on board appliance regulator which is usually located right next to the on/off main valve. Or, you could remove the Weber regulator, but that wouldn't be my first choice.

Yes we had the same problem with ours..while in Florida this past winter I kind of learned the hard way after ruining several fixings the wife made...I have been thinking about covering some of the burner tube with a strip of thin metal secured with hose clamps..I really like the Aussie grill but I think the oriface is too large and there seems no change between the Hi-Lo setting..I also tried a ceramic heat plate designed to give an even heat but it still got way too hot..
