Are these cracks in our roof?!? Help!!

Hi Everyone,

Just returned from a week of boondocking at the lake & decided it was time to wash the rig. I wash the roof every time I wash the rig. I've attached two photos where I found what looks like spider cracks.

Are these cracks? What should I do?

We have had some hail lately, but I don't know if that would have caused this, what do you think? Should I just use some of that eternabond tape & put patches right over the top of these spots?

Thanks for any help!!

It looks like something hit it? Those don't appear to be stress cracks. Eternabond will probably fix the problem.

If it was mine and since it is on the roof where it isn't really noticeable I would get a fiberglass repair kit and patch it.

Thanks for the help! I think it must have been the hail we had in the last storm.

Insurance should pay to have it repaired properly.

Do anything to keep the water out. Underneath is a very thin veneer of wood that easily gets damaged from water.

Depends on your deductible and if you want to give the insurance company an excuse to raise your rates.

Thanks for the answers everyone!

Our deductible is $500. Seems like an easy enough repair, but of course if it was an actual hole or if these cracks were split open or something like that I would turn it into insurance. As it is I think patching these spots myself is the way to go.

The fiberglass patch kits seems easy enough. It's just cloth and some epoxy type resin I suppose. I asked about the eternabond tape because I've heard it's waterproof and once it goes on getting it off is next to impossible. Anyone ever use this stuff that thinks I shouldn't for this repair?

Thanks again, Everyone, for all the help. I made a video for our YouTube channel to show what I did to solve the problem.

Will the cracks continue to grow beneath the Eternabond? If so, repair the crack instead of covering it.

matt,

Excellent video on your repair. While there I also viewed some of your other videos. All very good information, especially the solar system your installed. I subscribed as I am sure many from this forum will do as well.

Thanks

Thanks Everyone!

Time will of course tell if these tiny cracks will continue to spread, honestly I have no idea if they will or not. This is our first RV of any kind & I've no experience with this kind of thing at all, fiberglass and all that.

You can bet that I will be keeping a close eye on it and will report back should I see anything suspicious. We will be at the Winnebago rally in July at the factory. I hope to be able to get on the service list and have all the roof seals inspected and serviced as well as all the slide seals and mechanics. Kinda worried about visiting the factory, Maria really really likes the floorplan of the new Sightseers

Very much appreciate subscribers to our channel, especially from this forum! The more experienced eyes I have on the things I'm doing the better because, well, we're pretty much just wing'in it and learning as we go. Thanks much!!
