I've had a few jack "issues". I had my front jacks lowered and then dumped the air. NEVER do that! The MoHo rolled and sheared off all eight bolts and the entire front assembly holding the two jacks fell on the ground. It made a noise like a gun shot when it happened. BUT, it didn't bend the shafts.

I also had a spring fall off one of my rear jacks (a long story) so it wouldn't fully retract (I could drive but the dang warning buzzer was on the entire time for the two hour drive home). So, to raise the jack enough to put the spring back on, I inflated the air bags, put a stack of boards under the jack and then dumped the air. It raised the jack about two inches, so I inflated the air bags again, slipped in another board, and repeated until the jack was fully raised. Then I used a crowbar to get the spring back on. Hope that helps.

I bought a air filter from Cummins and replaced it myself. A bit messy but much cheaper. At $120 an hour or flat rate what you were quoted is probably correct for the over charging, over rated RV shop to arrogantly demand for their often inadequate service.

If you can get your wheels higher for the jack to extend longer you can put a straightedge on it and look for a bend at the point of binding.

The ATF is a good idea and if it works clean all of your rams with WD-40 as stated above. Also, removing a line is not necessary on HWH systems. There is a "Tee" handle on the solenoid associated with the jack in question. Opening it will relieve the pressure and allow retraction. HWH has information online for this.
