76 Minnie Winnie - Radiator Cooler Line Repair

Hey everyone!

I was recently replacing my alternator on my 76 Minnie Winnie (76 Dodge B300 Chassis). While I was trying to take the radiator cooler line off so that I could actually remove the alternator out of the engine area, but the old metal line cracked as I twisted it off.

It looks so far like it will be a really difficult part to find, so I was wondering if you all had any advice?

Can I use a rubber line to splice in to the metal line, maybe with extra clamps? Or are there places I might be able to find the whole line?

Any help or direction would be appreciated!

??? Transmission cooler line? I had the same year and chassis and was able to have plenty of room to access the alt. without having to remove a transmission cooler line. The short answer about splicing or sliding over a rubber line is yes BUT that line carries anywhere from 15 to 30 (normal) to 75 psi (high). Make sure its oil and temp resistant AND double up on the clamps. I would view this as a short term fix only.

Any decent auto parts store will be able to match and order that part. Brake lines now can be bought that are easily bendable on the site of repair. Don't know if that applies to cooler lines as well. Might be a different steel.
