3T's Mini Skirts

Just looking for feedback if anyone has had the "Mini Skirts" installed on their coach, and if they feel they are worthwhile?

Looks like a mini replacement for the full-size mud flap.

I went to the Mini Skirt website and note the claims of increased performance, better engine air flow, etc and would like to hear from anyone had them installed and can provide input on noticed changes.

When I asked on a couple of forums, I got no responses at all. I emailed the company with some questions about their claims (particularly the claim that since they hang lower than the full width mud flap they better protect the toad as everything I have read indicates that the lower any flap hangs the more debris/rocks it will sweep up and into the toad). I got the following reply...

HELLO PAUL,WE HAVE A CUSTOMER COMING IN THURSDAY WITH OUR MINI-SKIRT ON THERE COACH AND THERE COMING FROM ALASKA. SO WE'LL SEE HOW THEY HELD UP. GETTING BETTER ECONOMY, I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE, SOME PEOPLE DID AND SOME DIDN'T SEE ANY CHANGE. KEEPING THE ENGINE COOLER, YES, THERE'S MORE AIR MOVING THROUGH THE RADIATOR. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

I'm not sold at this point...

In addition to higher fuel mileage I bet they make you look younger and improve your sex life!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break.

I talked to Paul Smith (3T's owner) last July about them. He said they were designed/invented by a guy at Cal Poly and he is gong to truck companies with a guarantee they will save fuel. He was taking in the range of 1/4 to 1/3 mile per gallon which most RVers would not even notice but this is a lot of money to a trucking firm. He also mentioned the cooler engine. I bought a pair but I have not installed them yet. I just never liked the large one, which is always getting in the way when I level. This help?

I have a full width skirt that came with coach. It has an angle iron at the top. After bottoming out and having to hammer it straight a couple of times, I gave up. I'm ready to replace it with something that looks better and has a little less maintenance.

The sex life improvement is just a bonus!

My full-width flap has never been a problem, and has not been bent out of shape like some I have seen. From all I've read about them, and comparisons between coaches with no flap and coaches with the "hula skirt" type on the road to and from Alaska, if mine were damaged I would likely not replace it with anything at all. And if we ever make the trip to Alaska (which the DW would like to do), the full-width flap will be removed before we hit the Alaska road.
