2017 Sunstar LX Hood bracket coming off

One of the brackets that holds the hood shut is very loose and appears to be coming off. It seems like it’s held on (or should be ) with some sort of adhesive. Does anyone know what I can use to reattach it? I’m adding a couple pictures for reference.

The pictures rotated when I uploaded. Hopefully you can still make sense of them.

I don't mean to push you off but there are probably several hundred posts about this topic on this forum and on the IRV2.com forum. Rather than go into all of the different options and opinions again, I recommend you use the search feature on the top of the page to look at what other people have done and decide if it will work for you.

I tried that and found nothing. I’ll just go somewhere else I guess. Thanks

That's weird. I just did a search of this forum and got 198 hits. Did you use the search box way on the top of the page? Not the "Search this thread" link. Here are a couple of threads:

Thank you! All of my search results were totally irrelevant. I appreciate your patience.

I swear I posted this earlier, not sure what happened to it.

This thread has fairly recent posts, and a couple of different solutions that people have used.

Common problem, as noted by others. My solution was to sand off all of the paint on the brackets that are to be glued to the fiberglass (this is critical), then rough sand the old adhesive/fiberglass side, then use lots JB Weld (original) with clamp pressure for 24 hours. Make sure you use enough JB Weld so that it flows through the holes in the brackets for additional support/holding. It's been solid as a rock for the past 5,000 miles.

Oh, and while you're at it, check ALL of the other metal brackets that are glued to the fiberglass for potential failure! I had to epoxy several more brackets, including those holding the front grill.

I had same issue a few month ago. I did search and found thread WYOCAMPER is recommending. I strongly recommend reading it and maybe come back here and let us know of questions or what you decide. I started with post # 64 https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ml#post3921048 You can read and get how I went from complete bewilderment to amazed with my solution. I paid for it, but I consider my fix the best and it not only resolves the design flaw that cause the failures, it is cosmetically appeasing to me. If you are in Dallas area, I can get you in touch with my Mobile Repair guy who fabricated the parts. I still can't believe how he came to my house and did this. Winnebago loved his solution, but to my knowledge they just put the pictures on file for my coach.

As others have said, this is a pretty common problem / design flaw / application quality problem from Winn. I had both brackets that should be attached to the MH come loose, as well as the ones on the hood and several of the ones holding the grill on. I've got a 2018 Sunstar 29VE. I completely scrapped off the old glue from the brackets and the fiberglass. Then sanded the brackets down to bare metal. I used JB Weld 5 minute epoxy and still clamped in place overnight. I suppose you can use the original JB Weld that takes 24 hrs to cure. I think the key is getting a metal to fiberglass contact for the glue. It's been 10K miles and 1 1/2 years and still holding tight, so far. Oh, yeah, it helps to take the hood off to give you more room to work. Let me know if you have other questions. Good luck.
