2014 View slideout issue

The side slideout in my 2014 View 24G goes out about 2 inches and then the left stops and won't go out any more. The controller shows 8 blinking red LED lights which indicates a "wire short between controller and motor".
I would take it to the shop but they are all booked out 2 months or more.
Any ideas on if this is something I could fix?

Possible to fix but that also depends very much on a number or personal items.
Can you get to the wiring and examine it to see if you can spot a short? Do you have a meter and no how to test the wiring to verify there is a short and and then repair it if found?
Sometimes we get lucky enough to spot where the wiring may have come loose and is snagged on part of the slide, so that we don't have to look far to find the problem, while other times it can be as bad as a rodent chewing through insulation to cause a short. I have also seen a video of a gal with this report who found it was simply (hah!) a motor problem and was able to repair it herself! The problem with lights (sometimes called idiot lights!) is that they are not really very good at thinking and tend to jump to the wrong conclusion and that is part of what makes it difficult to fix.
On a one to ten scale, I might call this about an eight on techie difficulties. Not done one for wiring but I might first want to get to the motors to test if the wiring is actually bad as a first step.

The motors might need to be resynched, but that would be a long shot, based on the blinking lights.
Try bringing the slide all the way in, and hold the slide button for an extra few seconds after the slide is fully retracted. Then try putting it out again, holding the button for a few extra seconds after the slide (fully?) extends. Do this procedure 2 more times and the motors should be synched.
If that doesn't work, here are some other troubleshooting ideas from LCI Lippert.

Thanks for the suggestions and links. I tried switching the wire connector for motors 1 and 2 and got same results, except controller LED indicates motor 1 instead of motor 2. I guess that means it's not a problem with the controller. I was able to push the left side a little farther out, but will need more muscle power to continue all the way out, where I "might" be able to inspect the wire connection to the motor (currently it's against the bathroom wall so no access).
I agree with the level 8 difficulty, and that might be optimistic.
Thanks again.
