1995 Brave - Turn Signal Issues

Hello,

Issue 1:

When I try to use my turn signal lever, either up or down, it's VERY hard to move. I can only move it (without breaking it) by gripping lever at base by column.

Issue 2:

When the turn signal lever is moved to left turn the right turn flashers go on and visa versa for right turn lever operation.

I just bought this RV so I don't have any history.

My last dig into the steering column was about that time frame, so maybe some idea of what you might find. I found getting into the column was a trick but once there, I found the lever had a small ball that helped align the lever when we pulled it off center. Sound like you have a mechanical breakdown in that lever area.
If you think of that lever as what we have on the normal wall switch, there is a form of circuit board at the end and it may be that board has gotten brittle and the wire contacts may not be in the right location. That might be a wild guess on why things are acting as if reversed?

Sounds like digging into the steering column may be the fix!

Got to agree with picking the time.
I never liked to work when below 50 and now I never like to work when it's above 90.
That only leaves about 30 minutes a year around here!
I swear I'll quit soon as I get time!

Is that on a Ford chassis?
I took a quick look and some of this may help with the idea?

You will need a steering wheel puller!
