Trailer for a jeep, bikes and kayaks??
I am trying to find the right trailer to hold a Jeep like Rubicon with 13' wheelbase, two bicycles, and two kayaks, Dual axle aluminum all access preferred with tilt or beaver tail. I saw one pass me today on the freeway. Could not catch the brand. Looked like a nice mod with the yaks on an overhead set of bars like a ladder rack. It was pretty compact. Thanks

I have been using an Aluma all aluminum trailer since 2015. It has served me well and has been trouble free for thousands of miles, hauling my '32 Ford pickup hot rod behind my 2005 Winnebago 38R Adventurer. I chose it because it weighs only 1225 lbs with 5775 lbs of payload for a 7000 lb GVW. It doesn't have a dovetail or tilt, but they offer other trailers that do. There is room for motorcycles in front and I also added a 4' tall stone guard on front. Each fender is removable with two wingnuts for more car door clearance if you need it.

They have a full line of any trailer you would want. I also have owned Featherlite trailers for years and currently own a Featherlite 4926 enclosed trailer but for a open trailer I prefer the Aluma.

Doesn’t your Adventurer have a 5,000 lb towing limit and a hitch rated to only that weight, as well?

My Aluma trailer weighs 1225 lbs and the '32 Ford pickup weighs about 2500 lbs, so at 3725 lbs, I'm well under the 5000 lb limit. I've checked it on a Flying J scale so I know that 's right. I could add my big old Indian Chief road bike and my Honda CRF230F dirt bike to the trailer and still be well under the limit. That's exactly why I bought an Aluma trailer!

What is the weight limit your trailer can hold?

From my first post: "I chose it because it weighs only 1225 lbs with 5775 lbs of payload for a 7000 lb GVW." So that means my trailer will haul 5775 lbs.
On any trailer you can figure out what load you can haul by subtracting the empty (tare) weight of the trailer from the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) to get the trailer's hauling capacity. (7000 lb GVW - 1225 trailer weight = 5775 lbs capacity)
If that's not enough and you need more payload capacity you can look at the 22 foot or 24 foot long 8200 Tandem Utility Trailers with the heavy duty axles that will up the GVW to 10,400 lbs. That will give you a payload of over 8000 lbs.

I think most trailers come with standard 3500# axles.

I noticed that open trailers in RV parks here in Florida are frowned upon, they made me park it in storage for $20/day.
I flat tow my jeep, bikes on back and boards on the roof, lazy I don’t care to move stuff twice.

Exactly what I do - why bother with a trailer? Towing a TJ Rubicon, bikes on a hitch rack on the Jeep, kayaks on the Jeep's roof rack.

for me its not put road miles on my FJ. large good tires are $$ vs trailer tires lol. also helpful for when you brake something you can always winch it on the trailer
