Pro's and con's of a trailer
We just bought a Sunstar LX 30T, tow capacity 5000#. I have a 14 ft open trailer (1300#) for towing my Lotus 7 to the track. But for trips, we'll load up a Mini Cooper 3000#.
Since I already have the trailer and comfortable towing it, I'm going to go with that for starters. Plus, I would rather not spend the $2K-3K or whatever the cost is for a dolly or tow bar set up unless I absolutely have to. And nevermind that Cooper says "no 4 down towing."
Seems to me that extra weight is the main con for a trailer. Second might be additional overall length. The pro's are 1) no additional cost 2) able to back up and 3) better carry bulky things like a kayak.
Is there something else I'm not aware of that would cause me to spend the money and learn a new system for a dolly or tow bar?
