Mud/rock flap for toad

Hi, need some advice. We have a 2018 Winnebago 30T and would like to tow a vehicle on some of our trips. Haven’t decided which way to go with a dolly or flat tow. Our 30T did not come with a rock/mud flap and need some input on if we should have one when towing a vehicle on a dolly or flat tow. If so what brand or type would one be advised to use to keep road debris from damaging toad?

Thanks

Avoid gravel roads, and other road debris while driving at freeway speeds, and the answer is probably nothing required. I've towed my Wrangler over 20,000 miles without any problems, except the road grime that accumulates on the towed vehicle. The Navion has front and rear mud flaps behind the wheels, and that's it.

I've always been more than satisfied with the basic mud flaps immediately behind the wheels providing enough protection. I've towed both ways (4 down and dolly- use dolly totally now) and do not use any additional protection east of the Rockies.

I am not a believer in rear bumper full width flaps as there is some potential for them to brush or scrape up loose material into the front of the toad. If the front of the motorhome rises there is some potential for the low full width rear bumper flaps to drop down and drag along the ground stirring up loose gravel and debris to be thrown into the front of the toad.

While I have never had problems east of the Rockies, we did have to provide extra protection for the toad in northwestern states, Alaska and Canada where there is a lot of chip seal/ surface treatment roadways, or unpaved roads and loose gravel are easily found.

Most folks say the cross the back RV flap is likely to cause more damage then not having anything. They hit the ground behind the RV and kick up more rocks than they stop.

The rear dually wheel mud flaps and long overhang at the rear of the RV are all you need. We've towed our toad 28,000 miles without anything but mud flaps and zero chips or problems.

If you can flat tow I think you'll find it vastly easier than using a two dolly. But that's determined by the Toad you have - if it is flat towable or not.
