Mount for scooter on Winnebago Vista (2003) 21.5 foot RV

Any ideas on how to mount a small scooter on a small 21.5ft Winnebago Vista motorhome? Hitch on back is 1 3/4 inch.

Guessing you meant 1 1/4" receiver. That is either gong to be a class 1 or class 2 hitch depending on what was installed....check your.documents. These are relatively light duty hitchs with limited tounge weight from 200-300 lbs depending on which class rating it is. Even if it has the class 2 with a 300 lb rating you are most likely pushing the limits with a hitch motorcycle carrier and the scooter. My motorcycle carrier weighs 50+ lbs and my 125cc scooter weighs over 300 lbs. You may be better off with a small lightweight trailer.

I use a versahaul 500 lb carrier because it is one of the few that I can also put another receiver into it since I also tow a 20' catamaran sailboat. If you don't need to tow a light weight trailer or insert a bicycle rack behind the scooter carrier there are less expensive options out there but I can say the one I have is extremely stable and the tie down points are extendable to get the best angle for your tiedowns

Versa hauler is a good and popular choice. If bringing one scooter I use a Tilt-A-Rack. Very similar to the Versa just a little bit different loading and unloading.

If you use a motorcycle carrier use caution in your selection. Many have "rungs" for the tires to rest in. These are fine for larger tires however 10-inch tires will get hung up and be a real pain.

Check your hitch rating, generally a minimum of Class III is required. It is important to remember that the carrier will be set back from the hitch so it will be in a cantilevered position. Going over a bump that 300 pound the hauler and scooter will "act" much heavier so you want to make sure the hitch can handle it.

There are also tow dollies. Again you would need to check the hitch requirements. I have not seen these in person but it is a good concept. The main downsides I see are an additional axle at tolls and the cost...pricey!
