Smile Mirror extensions

I have a 2018 Canyon Denali and will soon have a Micro Minnie 2108FBS.
Does anyone have a similar set-up and if so, do you use mirror extensions.
I don't use them while towing my Minnie Drop 170S.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Howard,
I have the identical rig you have.
I do not use extension mirrors. It’s pretty easy to see both side, except toward the rear of the trailer. Instead of extension mirrors, I installed a Vakry rear view camera. This covers all the blind spots.

BTW,
I got the tip on the Vakry from Phil Auldrige. Inexpensive and easy install. See his post at: https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ra-360177.html

That looks like an awesome camera system.
Where do you place the monitor in your Denali?

The two sided tape that comes with it will hold the monitor to the dash above the center console. It doesn’t obstruct forward vision there. Unless, I found if you park on a steep hill it will fall off. I don’t want to put screws into the dashboard, so maybe I’ll try 3m velotape.

Found a solution to mounting the monitor. Turn the mount down at an angle so that the base with the two sided tape rests against the Bose depression in the dash and the base of the monitor rests on the dash. Apply a strip of 1/2” Scotch VHB two sided tape to the base of the monitor. Now press the monitor with exposed tape onto the dash. Problem solved.

our setup on GMC Canyon
Camera/monitor came from amazon
autovox td-2

Don’t use towing mirrors on the 2108fbs

I leave the monitor installed permanently.

Regarding a place for the rear camera dash monitor. Please be advised that Yakry will provide, for FREE, on request, a suction cup windshield mount for the display. That's what I use so I don't have to mar my dashboard, and it works great.
Also, instead of having an unruly power cord taking over your cockpit and a ligther socket, may I introduce you to these piggyback blade fuse holders from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I cut the lighter socket off the end of the display's power cable, then found a switched fuse location in the in-cabin fuse box.. remove the existing fuse, plug in the "pigtail" which has two fuse slots.. one for the original OEM component, and the second for your display unit (the kit comes with 4 different style ATC fuses.. one will certainly work in your vehicle).

That way, the display will turn on and off with your ignition, so you don't have to worry about powering it off every time. Then just push the thin display power cable in the tight slot between dash and windshield down to the fuse box.. it will be invisible, and take about 30 minutes.

BTW Phil,
Thanks for your help on the second camera. I wired one of the connectors to a 12v cigarette lighter plug. Plug it into back seat outlet and route thru rear sliding window, and attach camera with magnets to tailgate. What a difference. With the in-dash backup cam, I could never quite tell if the ball was under the tongue. Now I can see exactly where the ball is. Happy wife, no longer needed during hookup.

Hi Jim,
Glad it worked for you. We just bought a new Nissan Titan with backup camera built in, of course, and it works equally well (albeit not nearly as crisp and clear image as the Yankry), so currently my second camera sits gathering dust. Maybe I'll set it up with a memory chip for forward viewing in case of accident
