Avoids having to mess with the diodes.
For the Wranglers...Mopar makes a wiring harness that "TEE's" into a connector in the passenger side kick panel. You only need to route the wires from that location thru the firewall and up to the grill...or in my case --- I hooked into a Blue Ox quick connect so I could use their coiled blue umbilical. The Mopar harness uses your existing lights, NO Diodes, and the center brake light is working too... Sometimes the factory option is just a whole lot easier.

+1 on the AF1. I have about 10k miles on it, and love it. Easy to hook/unhook, you can view the LED red light in the rear view camera to verify it is working, and it was easy to hook up (dealer did it) in a day before my first trip.

I am currently using a Brake Buddy and it works fine. But if I had to do it all over I would definitely have the Air Force One

I've used the RoadMaster BrakeMaster 9160 on two MH's and three toweds now. Works perfectly, includes a breakaway and is fully proportional.

As I understand it, ALL qualified towed units have to have a breakaway breaking system. For us it is standard to have a small rectangular box with wires going back to the towed breaking system and a wire rope attached from a loop on the box to the tow vehicle. This is a deadman switch. If the rope becomes taut enough to pull the plastic plug in the box the towed breaks will apply. Not all "trailers" require breaks in all states. Weight is the determining factor.

I wish the 2005 Wrangler had that option

We use a Brake Buddy on our 2004 Jeep Wrangler, very happy with it. The time it takes to attach the Jeep to the Blue Ox tow bar, and finishing the install takes about 15 minutes. I like the system for our situation, as we don't use the RV that much, so those 15 minutes are not critical~! I use a magnetic rear light setup attached to the aftermarket bumper, and run the wire through the Jeep out the passenger side door and plug it into the RV. When at location, I just leave the rear lights attached to the bumper. The swing-out tire carrier keeps them in place.
