Brake controller

I have a Winnebago Sightseer 36Z. I am going to be using a car hauler for several different vehicles. The trailer is an Aluma 18’ with dual axle’s with electric brakes on both axels.
Do I need to install a brake controller like I have on my 2017 Sierra?

Thanks

Most state laws base the need for trailer brakes on the total weight of trailer and cargo and not on the weight of the tow vehicle. If the trailer manufacturer installed brakes on the trailer, I would install a brake controller. After an accident, your insurance company would probably not look favorably on pulling a trailer equiptment with brakes and not connecting them.

Short easy answer… yes.

Your Sightseer hitch is rated at 5,000 lbs MAX. With a ~1,200 lb trailer weight you only have 3,800lb, at most, for the cars you plan to haul.
