2021 Equinox Baseplate

Has anyone had a Blue Ox Baseplate installed on a 2021 Chevy Equinox? Although there is virtually no change from 2020, Blue Ox is yet to update their website for the 2021 Equinox. The 2018 - 2020 uses BX1730. This should be the same for the 2021, but when I contacted Blue Ox a couple of months ago they said they had not been able to evaluate the new 2021 model because there were none in their area yet!?? Roadmaster has already posted their baseplate for the 2021 Equinox and it is the same as the 2018 - 2020.

Did you ever figure this out? I am thinking about buying a 2021 Equinox as a toad. Have you towed yours? Any advice or impressions?

Yes. Blue Ox got back to me shortly after my original post to let me know they had determined the 2021 Equinox did not change from the 2020 model and would use the same baseplate (BX1730). In fact this was the same baseplate installed on my 2018 Equinox as well. The baseplate has been installed and we have towed the Equinox with no issues. IMO this is an excellent toad, easy to tow and light weight for its size (about 3350 lbs). Mine is the Premier trim which has LED Tail Lights and requires the LED Diode kit. To tow you just put the car in Neutral, press the the ignition button to the Amber color (On) and you are ready to tow. The Dash Display has an option for Shut Off Display which you should use when towing to minimize battery drain. As with most toad vehicles nowadays I highly recommend a trickle charger be installed and wired through your electrical pigtail to the motorhome plug. We had this on our 2018 and had the same charger installed on the 2021 as well. This will eliminate any battery drain and the need to start the toad every 3 or 4 hours when towing. Hope this was helpful.

Yes I do. I have a Brake Buddy Classic that is several years old and still works fine so I had the Brake Away Switch installed for that as well as a 12v outlet under the dash for power. I thought about going with something else with the new car but figured that could be done later if need be.

Thanks. The only problem with the 2021 Equinox is the lack of a hitch option. I need to carry bicycles and not sure how to do that without a hitch option.

I think that is something that the dealer can install as part of the deal, or you can have it done after market. Good luck with your search.
