The springs in Central Florida.

I'm heading to Key West for a week, at Bluewater Key RV Resort, and on the way back I want to swim, kayak, and camp for a week in the springs in Central Florida.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ken

Yes - take me with you! Bluewater Key RV Resort is a very nice spot.
Sounds like fun.

Blue Spring State Park near Deltona. May be tough getting a reservation for a week though.

You have choices of both campgrounds and springs near Salt Springs in the Ocala National Forest.

It's not the springs... but there is a little known Florida State Park in Northern Florida just south of the GA state line on Hwy 41, that's right on Hwy 41.

Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs, FL. Huge campsites, lovely grounds, a small art colony and Stephen Foster Museum ("Way Down Upon The Swanee River"). This is in addition to the Carillon tower, gift shop and craft square, plus the Canoe/kayak rentals

They generally have events all year long and at Christmas it's super decorated with Christmas Lights and such. People pay $5 to just drive through the park and look at it all. I do know with Covid they've cancelled some of their signature events... like the Dulcimer Festival.

We spent 2-nights there a little over a year ago and it's still one of our favs.

If you opt for the Fort McCoy / Lake Oklawaha KOA at Hog Valley, DO NOT follow your GPS through the National Forest roads unless you want to get stuck and towed out. Go the long way around, from FL-19 to FL-314 to FR-88 (NE 203 Ave Rd) to Hwy-316. We camp at that KOA at least yearly and have known people to get stuck in the sugar sand on the road the GPS typically routes.

Ah yes! Swimming with the alligators. One of my favorites to watch, from a real safe place on dry land. Enjoy the Keys. There are some fun times to be had out there. Best wishes and good luck.

This is probably the best choice. Between Christmas and New Years this place is packed because of Manatee viewing. Another springs off the St. Johns River that I like is Silver Glen Springs off of Lake George.

any of those state parks are winners..just find one you can get In (tough to do) Yankees suck them up, this time of year, Floridians suck them up in the summer

Near Ocala

If you can get a reservation;
Rainbow Springs State Park - They have swim area at the headsprings, kayak launch and trails.
Silver Springs State Park - A really nice larger park, with kayak launch, lots of wildlife (monkeys also)

We were at Spirit of the Suwannee this past weekend.. love it. 1,000 Acres + to explore.
Rent a golf cart of at least one day to get full experience. Large sites. Large trees / shade. Check it out!!!
