We camped at the Cheaha State Park campground, which is within the Talladega National Forest, earlier this week and spent two days there. The campground is very nice and has full hookups. The camping spots are spread well apart and are more private than many other places we have visited. The showers were good and bathrooms very clean.
If your idea of camping is a quiet place with great hiking trails to scenic waterfalls you will love it here. The trails are easy to moderate and well worn, so hard to get lost. We stayed at the upper campground which is set up for both RV's and tents, where the lower campground, by the lake has more primitive sites for tent camping. We did not go to the lake.
We could not get cell phone service, so our internet was unavailable too. TV reception was reasonable good. I would guess that those who prefer resort style parks may not like CSP, but we loved it. When we come back to TNF, we will likely try the Coleman Lake Campground at the north end of TNF. It is more remote and they don't take reservations so we decided to go to Cheaha this trip as we did not have time to do both.
