RVing on Mars?

Here is a post about our very orange trip to Half Moon Bay, CA last month.
It was actually even orange than the photo, as the iPhone tried to correct the sky!

Hi Al & Deb,
Yet another great trip report. With reference to that last photo showing an engraved bench in your report (Never Miss A Sunset) one of the beaches on the Long Beach Peninsula is called Klipsan Beach. The word Klipsan is the Indian word for Sunset. I have seen many wonderful sunsets from there.
Regarding the air pollution, I had this post for installing Carbon Filter Fabric in your air conditioner return. Also, when we had the smoke up here in Washington, I ran a HEPA filter on one of the inverter outlets, plus I left the cab system on <Max Air>, which recirculates much of the cabin air. It really kept the air clean inside the Eagle5.
Thanks, Eagle5

Yes, that’s where we stayed. We like the state park over the small spaces of the private parks nearby. Our favorite space is #16 (which we didn’t get this time) because you can see the Mavericks in the distance.

Eagle5, thanks for the great tips on keeping the air clean inside the RV! Also, I’ll look for Klipsan’s beach when I am in the Long Beach area again.

Hi again Al & Deb,
We have been going to Klipsan Beach since 1963. Not too far from South Bend, at just 50 miles. Sometimes, when you step-out on the Beach in the middle of winter, you can look 15 miles to the south, and then 15 miles to the north, and not see another living soul. It is like stepping onto the surface of the Moon sometimes. In the winter, the storms are just fine, but when the sun is out and the clamming season is open, it is very nice too.
Thanks, Eagle5

Funny, 16 is our favorite spot too. Stayed there in July. Hard to get though, as it books up so fast—six months out to the MINUTE!

A few minutes north of Francis Beach State Park, is the first come, first served, Pillar Point RV park. It’s not really a “park” but more akin to a parking “lot”. That said, if you get in with the locals, and repeat guests, it can be a fun social scene, just not camping.. We live right over the hill in Belmont, so either park is a 20 minute drive, MOL. We take what we can get...

Our view from Francis Beach, site 16 July 27th, 2020 (did I just ruin it for both of us?)

And also, our view from site 19, at Pillar Point (we spent the entire month of August working over there to avoid the heat and fires...

We had a similar view a bit more inland in early September.
