I agree with the thoughts, all of them. I posted a response and started a thread thinking a few who have the lithium installed might chime in with a positive experience and details.

If we still owned a DP I would not even be interested in any way in lithium at this point, and yes, I too have used the Costco GC batteries at $83 ea. They work for about 3 years or more with constant maintenance like any flooded wet cell. I have used that technology for 30 years on the farm and I've had wet cells last for over 12 years in my diesel equipment. Just kept a trickle charger on those but that's apple vs grapefruit.

Nice thing about the forums is you get varied responses. Sometimes I fail to read the entire post and make a perfectly inept reply, sometimes not. Size, space and weight vs energy reserve are critical in my application but not in others.

Our last rig had plenty of space for more battery but we did not often dry camp in that rig, only an occasional overnight dry. No need for any added expense. It also had a traditional absorption fridge. For those with a larger RV there really is little issue in dry camping or RV travel for CPAP users, just plug it up as necessary to whatever power you need, converter for new units seems normal (24-12vdc). Or just use your inverter outlet, or take an extra battery - plethora of choices make it fairly simple in a larger rig. I would recommend PSW inverter though. One thing I do not recommend is the 12 volt "cigarette" lighter style connector - too much loss and bad connections possible. Use a marine connector for the DC if you go that way.

"I would recommend PSW inverter though."

Absolutely the safest way.

CPAP Update: I experimented with using my CPAP via generator, 12 volt (with ResMed) converter and separate battery I toted along to the Pocono Gander 400. IMHO generator was first choice as I could use humidifier. Separate battery was second as I didn't want to drain house batteries. It was only for three nights, but allowed me options which I'm very fond of. Thanks for all responses. I feel more confident for dry camping now. Unfortunately, DW isn't !!!

My wife got a new CPAP machine last month. We had a chance to boondock this last week. We use 4 6v GC2 batteries for the coach. Using a 1000w inverter, charge for one hour with generator, and shut down at quiet hours. Normal night with watching tv for a couple hours, running CPAP with humidifier all night, off the inverter, along with various parasitic 12v loads around the coach, results in a loss of .1 - .2v during the night.

Conclusion, no significant loss of voltage from the CPAP machine with our battery setup.
