Central CA Coast - Costanoa Trip Report

With CA still recovering from the fires, we visited Costanoa the day it reopened for business. Here is our trip report.

As always Al & Deb; another great trip report! We have stayed in Pacifica at that same San Francisco RV Resort three times. Twice in Cruise America Rentals, and once in the Eagle5. I have family down there, and we have had spot #139 twice and #140 once; both Ocean Front. In our first visit in the 25' Cruise America, spot #140 was NOT ocean front when we booked it, but when we arrived, it was! How about that for a discount! The beach access to the ocean is great, but dare I say "too great?" (hopefully not falling off the edge of the cliff overnight.)
Sadly the last time we went (April 2019) the homeless encroachment had become more severe, diminishing the charm of the area. Still, it wasn't bad.
On the way home from our first trip in 2012, we stayed at McCloud RV Resort. A very nice place, and great little town to explore. I wished we had stayed there more than one night.

Thanks! Great story about your newly ocean view site. :-) The place is too cramped for us to enjoy it there, but we love the location. The first time we stayed there we could see whales and dolphins form the RV! Thanks for mentioning McCloud. We want to travel in that area sometime in the next year or two. We’ve never been to Burney Falls, Mt. Lassen Volcanic Park, or down 395. Sounds fun. Take care!

Excellent RV campsites at New Brighton and Sunset state beaches immediately to the south of Santa Cruz and less than half a mile off of Hwy 1 in Central California.

I highly recommend the book 'California Camping' by Tom Steinstra. He provide information on more than 1400 locations, including RV sites by length and also other amenities and a view rating.
