I’ve been there, but not stayed there. It’s dry and dusty but that is the character of the entire area. In far south and west Texas it’s a long distance between everything. The RV Park is the nicest one for maybe 200 miles in any direction.
The “town” there is a development of a wealthy California real estate developer. He’s spent millions to build a golf course, private jet airport, shopping, vacation home and rentals and the RV Park. It’s well done but not as successful as I’m sure he hoped. The reason being how tough of a location it is.
We enjoyed Big Bend. We went in March a few years ago and it was already very hot. We spent a couple uncomfortable nights in a National Park campground without electricity. Got lucky and then got a spot in the only “campground” in the park with electricity. It’s a parking lot. Literally.
So, Lajitas is a good choice to tour the whole area.
Here’s a video that David Bott made with his drone of the RV Park.
