Posted 08-16-2018 at 07:18 AM by Lightfoot54

It is finally water tight so I no longer have to keep a tarp over it. The filon sheet was rolled up and first tucked under the rear lip. Then contact cement was applied to the outside of the roll and to about 4 feet of the plywood. After the glue tacked, 20 minutes, that 4 feet was rolled down and compressed. It took all day to do the whole thing 4 feet at a time. The whiteness of it is intense. I had turquoise circles in my peripheral vision after doing it. There are bacon wrinkles along...

Roof details

Posted 07-05-2018 at 12:23 PM by Lightfoot54

Not all parts of the roof are being completely replaced. The area over the galley seems solid enough to save, and it's full replacement would have increased greatly the scope of the project, so I am simply overlaying the existing foam with new plywood. This picture shows how the panels are lapped together with a mating strip so that they fit tight and smooth.
This photo shows the how...

1992 Elante Project Rebuild

The first thing to fix is the roof. The area over the lounge had two florescent lights, and that design compromised the strength, so the roof pulled away from the top channel, and began to leak.
Here is a photo after removing the fiberglass (the new front panel is already installed)

Here is the panel under construction:

On the road, technical difficulties

Posted 05-31-2018 at 10:03 AM by Mfprind

We went on a road trip to get ready for the kids coming in just a couple of days. We stopped for gas and after topping off the tank attempted to restart, nodda, that is, the motor turned over, but no start. I sprayed starter fluid into the carb. It burned the fluid, but would not start. That was last eve, now how many hours later we are waiting on a mobile mechanic. It should be simple.. Any ideas? Ever happen to you? Thank you..
Marcus and Rachel, stranded..
