RV Quality or Even a Facsimile Thereof

Posted 09-14-2020 at 10:28 AM by 1GRN1

Is it any wonder that, to my knowledge, J.D. Power has not granted awards to Winnebago (WGO), WGO suppliers, or WGO dealers or dealers' service organizations? I'm not aware that RV manufacturers or suppliers are required by the RVIA to comply with quality management systems, and especially such as those prescribed by IATF 16949 which is widely used in the automobile and HD Truck industry.

Hey WGO Chief Design Engineer - have you even heard of a function diagram, DFMEA, Taguchi Diagram, or PPAP or required your Design Responsible Engineers to create and execute them and as well to evaluate those of your suppliers? Does your standards department or even the RVIA issue standards prescribing component performance and durability requirements and testing? Probably not. It would seem that your customers do that. Like me, every RV'er I've met in the last 3 years of full-timing has a list of their RV's defects.

Get on the road to quality and cut your warranty complaints and costs! Your customers shouldn't need to make lists of dozens of quality issues to be repaired, many of them after your vendors' 1 year warranties expire.
