Virgin Run

Just thought I would update the forum on my virgin run. Bought my 2013 26HE 4 days ago. Took off from Phoenix and drove to Dolores Colorado via Payson AZ to Holbrook to Gallup to Shiprock to Cortez to Dolores Colorado. Steady side and head winds and gusts. Plenty of 5% & 6% grades. Basically an uphill drive the majority of the way with exception to 80 miles of Interstate 40. The V10 purred like a kitten. Held it at 2000 rpm and 65 mph except for steep grades. Performance was 8 mpg.

I left Dolores and drove 200 miles to my home in western Colorado today. The route is narrow winding 2 lane so speed was reduced to 55 mph at about 1200 to 1600 rpms depending on grade. Performance was 10 mpg on that run.

The unit handled great in the wind with very little trouble in maintaining lane. Passed oncoming semi trucks with very little wind shear issues.

So I am very happy with my purchase. I will be doing some intake modifications to increase airflow similar to what I have done on my other vehicles. May be able to gain a couple of mpg if I’m lucky. Don’t really need anymore horse power. Plenty of that already.

We love that route. For us it is usually Tucson to Deming, Deming to Eagar, Holbrook, Shiprock, Cortez and north. Good roads, little traffic, plenty of time to just ..........think.
