Itasca Suncruiser 2014 38q Battery Problem
Hello - we have new batteries - 4 agm deep cycle coach batteries and a new chassis battery. Inverter seems to be working, solar panel seems to be working but batteries are not charging. Any ideas? Also, we failed to take picture of battery bank before replacing batteries so if anyone with this coach has a picture to share, it would appreciated. Right now, we have positive to positives on all 4 batteries and negative to negative. I have seen different diagrams online of alternatives but I do not know what is accurate. Help! Thanks. Ann

Perhaps the solar charge controller 12 volt side was connected directly to one of the former coach batteries and when batteries were replaced it was not re-connected. Good luck.

I wondered about that but it is showing the voltage on the batteries on the solar read out panel. It appears to be working because it shut off when the batteries got too low.

Fixed problem
Okay, we figured it out with the help of Magnum. One of the cables from the inverter was not connected to the battery. Another issue that we also learned is that the larger cables need to be under the smaller cables. This made a huge difference in our battery readings on different monitors. They are the same now and batteries are charging. Thanks for your help.

Are these 6 or 12V batteries?

batteries
Hello - they are 12 volt but we identified the problem. One of the inverter cables was not connected.
Thank you for your response.

Jerichorick,
Probably when my husband changed the batteries, one fell back behind and he didn't see it.

Oh no !!!! To me that is too funny and a bit . I just did the same thing.
Last month I pulled the start batteries to do maintenance. When I put things back together the main ground wire fell behind the batteries. The box is black and the day was bright. I didn't see it. Went to start the coach yesterday and it did not crank. My son and I figured it was the 8 year old batteries. The auto parts store test confirmed that they were tired. I bought 2 new batteries. Now it was dark out. When the flashlight beam wandered into the cabinet I saw the disconnected wire laying in the back of the bay. Instantly I knew why the old batteries didn't crank the coach.
Now, for the bright side. The old batteries were not strong at all. We could have been at a rest area when the batteries failed. Missing the correct placement of that wire could have been a blessing. I subscribe to the blessings of God are not always seen quickly.
So, your DH and me have joined the same club. But, for both, all is well.
Happy trails,
Rick
