Hello from a Florida Journey Family

Hi everyone! Glad to find some friendly people here! Thanks for having us. Like most RV owners, there's always something new to fix on these rigs. Had no idea! Definitely owning a brick and mortar home was easier. At least I knew what I was doing in our house.

We bought our older Journey from Camping World in Orlando. Found out later that they aren't totally honest. A lot of things needed repair after we drove off. Found a check list (left accidentally by the walk-through guy) of items that needed to be done before we drove off with our new home, yet we discovered later and many states away, the work wasn't completed as was promised. Being newbies, we didn't know how to check these things. Wow. Big mistake. Makes hiring an inspector very relevant in the purchase of used RVs!

Finally getting into Oregon, that's when we started having too many issues to handle ourselves. Our slides wouldn't work, leaving us stranded in a small town. A/C broke during the hot fire season with temps at 113. Then the leveling system failed, all batteries needed replacing, found numerous leaks during the long, wet winter, needed new water pump, new inverter, new kitchen faucet....still have so much work that needs to be done before we finally head back home in October.

What started out as a 1 year cross country tour turned into 18 months of waiting, for parts to come in, mobile repair guys to show up, (1 so called repairman ended up breaking more things than he fixed and then another one stole our tools, a slide motor and parts, then tried to steal our rv when we refused to pay for the mess he made! The police came just in time, but unfortunately after my husband was assaulted by the man. It was scary. Also, Good Sam was the company who sent this repair person to our aid!)

Ended up becoming hosts in a county park until we could get all the parts to fix our slides, all new batteries replaced, the water pump, leaks fixed and a/c repaired. The expenses have been enormous. Too much for a newly retired couple, that's for sure.

Wished I'd found you all before we tried to do this on our own! Thanks so much for this forum and all the good people here who share their own experiences! We do love our Journey, so hopefully as we head home in October we don't have any major problems! Keep us in your prayers!!!

Sound horrible! We've had to fix quite a lot on our Journey but I expected it. Biggest one was replacing the radiator last year. Seems there are always things to fix.

Hang in there because once you're done you will have a nice coach for a long time.

I think if you had asked around here prior to buying it everyone would have told you they do not like Camping World very much.

What year is your Journey?
