We are now official Winnebago owners!

After much research and discussion we took delivery yesterday of a 2006 Sightseer 29R , through Guaranty RV Center in Junction City, OR! Our salesman Dave worked on a good deal and helped us through the process. We had a wonderful tech, Ramon, who was patient and thorough in the walk-through... Did I mention patient?!
We spent the night on the lot as we were too tired to drive home (took us 8 hrs today, with a couple of stops).....Ramon came back this morning to help us on a couple of minor issues , he's a gem
It's back to work tomorrow but retirement beckons ...4 months!
I'll change my signature after I rest up... Then it's doggie shopping

Congratulations on your "New to You" MH. Now get out and test everything ASAP and after that just keep on using it as much as possible. There's no excuse now to not take those quick weekend get-a-ways. So do it

Congratulations! Believe it or not, compared to us, you're a grizzled veteran!

We bought our 2005 Itasca Suncruiser on May SECOND!

Happy travels to you all!

We had to bring it home to Roswell, Ga. from Fort Myers, Florida. That's about 600 miles. We split it up over two days and dry-camped in a Walmart parking lot. As Opie Taylor used to tell Sheriff Andy when he got to sleep on the ironing board...it was "adventure sleeping"!

We had a great trip!

Yes, you'll love retirement. I finally hung it up back in December and I could kick myself for waiting that long.

Interesting that no one has ever regretted retiring!
Were you living in Roswell in 2004? Our first and only RV trip was to Marietta to pick up a couple of Scottie dogs (long story!) we're still friends with the owner and we really liked GA, southern friendliness is not a myth! she now lives in Canton and that will be one of our destinations.

Yes. We moved to Roswell in 1996, but we're both native Georgians. I'm one of those rare native Atlantans. Nice to hear that about my home state, but it's not nearly as friendly today as it was when I was growing up. But I suppose that's probably true for everywhere.

No, nobody ever regrets retiring...at least not in their 60's. It's whether you end up eating dog food in your 90's when you know if you made the right move or not.

Parsoc and Jackalope - Congrats on the new coaches! Wishing you both many happy and safe miles. Parsoc I'll be right behind you on the retirement thing (10/30), then it's on to southern TX for our first retirement winter.

Why Texas? And where?
I always wondered why AZ seemed to hold a monopoly on Sunbirds, even tho we will end up there too.....at least for first winter. I'm not much of a desert fan but will see what it's like (I actually LIKE winter!)

To rream: thank you for all the Winnebago links, much appreciated! DH thought we could get locking gas cap at CW but they do not carry them.
So many adventures ahead!

Arizona is a good place to start and probably the best place if you like boondocking. The BLM lands and LTVAs can't be beat. We also enjoy New Mexico and Texas.

If you like full hookups, just pick the climate you want. I think Arizona provides the best over all climate. The Rio Grande Valley the warmest.

If you don't like desert, Arizona has beautiful mountains also.

New Mexico is a cooler climate and maybe more to your liking.

Thanks so much.

You're gonna love retirement.

But let me tell you something. All these plans you've got for what you're going to do in your free time? Forget them. You won't have any free time. In fact, you're going to be more behind than you are now. Don't ask me why, but it's true.

We bought our coach new from Guaranty when they had a store in Gilroy, CA.

Their sales and service were excellent and I hope you find that to be true also.

Also....JACKALOPE was correct about no free time.

It is so true about not having enough time in retirement.
I don't know how I had time to work !!

Look into joining a local WIT chapter. Hanging out with like minded, knowledgeable people usually with a monthly campout.
