Bedroom slide came out while traveling. Stoped at campground in Yuma on way to Quartsite. Bedroom slide out about 8 inches, oil pouring out. Clyinder rod end cap blew out from hdy. pressure. HWH service only. Called HWH for parts and told had to be ordered by authorized HWH dealer. One in Yuma but could not come out until Monday even though contacted on Thursday. Parts have to be ordred by him, parts have to be built, no one had had any cylinders in stock. Two days to build cylinder, two days shipping at least. Very costly, lost reservation money in Quartsite and had to spend more money to stay in ampground waiting for repair. La Mesa RV dealer did not even have the part. Anyone else ever had this problem? 03 Winnebago Sunflyer.

Update on slide room. HWH did not have an explanation on why this would happen. By speaking to Leonard at the HWH factory he got the ball rolling to get us a new cylinder made. Al's RV Repair in Yuma did not seem interested in helping us get fixed and on our way. La Mesa Winnebago was booked up until February and we had a time frame to meet. After receiving the new cylinger the repair took about one hour. HWH website does have all the part numbers and diagrams for the slide which was helpful, only bad part, you can not order the park without having an authorized HWH dealer calling in the park numbers. We are now fixed up, made it back to Arizona City safely and without incident.

Manufacturers are simply going to have to "learn" how to take a tough line with their dealers. If the car manufacturers had dealers with behaviour similar to this they would lose a lot of sales.

In early 2001 we had the computer chip that controls the auto levelling of our Montana fail. Rear suspension went right up and it locked. Amazingly stiff and impossible to drive. This happened on a Saturday afternoon in January. GM Roadside Assistance directed us to a dealer about a mile away. Of course, this was a Saturday and we had to stay at the local Holiday Inn Express (we were in Corbin KY - at that time totally dry) until Monday morning. The dealer in Corbin did not have the parts (had never heard of this chip failing before) so the mechanic manually let out air but left in enough to hold the load we were carrying. On we went in short order to Florida where the Pontiac dealer ordered the required part and when it arrived a few days later installed it. GM sent us a check for the hotel cost for two nights and all of our meals.

The Montana was a 1999 model and later that year we replaced it with a 2002 Olds van. Which RV manufacturer and its dealers provide service like this? For what we pay for their products they certainly should.

In October '04 we lost the 12VDC pump motor for our HWH jacks & slides. Called HWH and they overnighted a new motor under warranty I had to pay the $44 for the overnight, but it was worth it. They were easy to work with. I did not have to go through a dealer. The rig is an '02 Journey DL.

Are you saying that you cannot order a part from HWH unless you are an HWH dealer?

2 weeks ago in Wellton, AZ the motor for the hydraulic pump burnt out. HWH system. I called them and told them the problem. The service tech helped my find the part number on the top of the system and sent me a new motor shipped overnight. The motor arrived the next day and I installed it myself.

Yes that is what we were told, it may have been because the cylinder was enclosed in a square tube under the bed. The only way to get the numbers was to pull the cylinder and maybe that is why they said only an authorized dealer could get the numbers. It was still under warranty and they may have wanted to make sure the part was right since the factory had to make the cylinder. When calling HWH directly they were courteous, understanding, it was just that the dealer said he was too busy to come to our park and we could not take the coach to his business. HWH website is also very informative.
