RV Broken into

Well, I got a call from my storage place today and 11 class A RV's were broken into last night, of course mine was one of the 11. They only broke into class A RV's leaving the boats and class C and pull behinds alone. Not sure why but they must figure class A's have more to steal in them.

The good news was nothing was taken, I take all my electronics out of the RV before I store it.

The bad news, they broke the passenger front window. They only broke the window that slides. The screen if fine also.

I've called some of the local service shops and they are telling me that I have to replace the entire window (three windows in one large frame) and it will cost me close to $3k after everything is all said and done.

My questions is why can't I just replace the sliding window?? Any experts out there that can help???

Thanks.

Some one is trying to rob you again... try another glass shop or look at the lower corner of one of your windows and see who make them.. Google it and order direct. I know many people that have replaced just part of the window and the sliding part is by far the easiest.

If the frame isn't damaged beyond repair, check with a local glass shop like Binswanger Glass.

Terrible. I know how you feel. A couple of months ago they broke into our RV lot. They broke into everything including the boats. They tried to jimmy the driver side door but couldn't. The lock is higher than the door handle where they were prying. They tried the slideout sliding windows it wouldn't budge so they gave up. They must of taken a ladder to your's because those windows are high.

Anyway like others have mentioned call Winnebago. Good luck.

I don't believe Winnebago will/can sell parts directly to the general public. They mostly likely will refer you to Lichtsinn RV-Parts which is about a mile from the Winnie plant. We just recently bought a replacement window for our rig. Ask for the parts mgr, Lonnie, if you call.
Winnebago & Itasca Motorhomes - Lichtsinn Motors Forest City, Iowa - RV Dealer

Another place to check would be Colaw RV parts around Carthage, Mo.
They have both new and used rv stuff. Colaw RV Salvage > Home

I had my whole assembly replaced at GNR in 2005, cost about $825. Insurance paid for all except my $250 deductible.

Factory would not replace just the glass (in my case it was the top rectangler piece).

I did buy the glass ahead of time from Mobility RV.
