Picking up our outlook--PDI Advice, Please

We are picking up our Outlook tomorrow and we are newbies. Any advice of what to look for or ask about during the PDI? I saw one great tip about videotaping everything to refer back to after we will inevitably forget something. I am going in with a list of questions. What do you wish you would have known or asked when you picked up your new mg? TIA

I think the main thing is not to let them rush you through the process.. They will point and tell you what everything is without taking a breath sometimes. Stop them and have them show you how to work each system. It's harder to get questions answered once you leave the lot.

For sure you want water in the fresh tank and propane in the propane tank and take the time to check the furnace, hot water heater, stove, oven if equipped. AC, Heat Pump (if equipped), vent fans, inverter (if equipped). Onan Generator. Refrigerator in propane and AC modes. Leveling system (if equipped).

They won't want to but have them take thru the in-dash receiver and confirm that the cameras work. Same with how to use TV, scan for OTA channels, how to switch to the CATV input in the basement.

You'll get to information overload, when you do take a coffee break and recharge. It will be easier on your 2nd RV someday when you are not a newbie.

Try to plan your day so you can spend several hours without you needing to leave before you have learned everything you want to.

One thing- ask them where the owners manual is and keep it handy to check things you want or need to know. Chances are if the dealer sells multiple lines, he will be more confused than you are. Everything should be in the manual and it will be correct for the unit you purchased. Good luck - there is lots to learn but you dont need to learn it all on day one!

Hi,
Outlook Winny is a great RV. Owned one for two years. Drove it to Alaska and back without a single problem. Did the western mountain state the next year. Same experience. The Ford V10 has all the power you need and the tranny is flawless. Put over 20,000 mile on the rig and enjoyed every minute. We have down sized to a Winny Navion and taken it to Alaska also. Both rigs have their advantages, but we really liked our 2006 Outlook. Put a decal on her “Good Outlook.”

Be sure to check your smoke and CO2 detectors. We recently picked up a brand new unit and found that the protective tape on the batteries had never been removed by the dealer which made them absolutely USELESS!

Thanks everyone for the replies. We had a positive experience and they fixed some minor issues on the spot. Taking our maiden voyage this weekend to work out any kinks.
