I think it works with ducted a/c units.
We have it and we love it!!! We got one for each of our vents and have made a world of difference. Wish we would have found this sooner. Definitely worth the money!!!!

All I can say is actually hearing the difference would make you want to buy a gallon of Kool-Aid. No longer have to have the TV turned up to 99 to hear it over the AC. Only "problem" we have now is I could always count on the AC in the bedroom to drown out the TV in the living room when I go to bed before my hubby. Thank goodness he can turn the TV way down now and then he can still hear it over the AC. We are happy campers!

I seem to recall a posting on YouTube on how to build a noise diffuser yourself. Person claimed it to be as efficient as the commercial one.
