Exclamation Major Safety Concerns

We picked up our new Winnebago 22M from a N.C. CW dealer in August. Now I understand that these places are swamped with too much work and not enough help but after about 10 days camping, just on a whim we thought we should check out our smoke detector. Our prior rigs detector would sound off sometimes while making toast, and we never heard even a peep from the new one. Well, we were shocked when we found the safety tape on the battery inside the new detector had never been removed during the pre-delivery servicing of our new unit. So naturally we also checked both our other detectors and found that the CO2 detector also had the tape on the battery! These are things we never even thought of and just assumed they should be working. To think we spent 10 nights in a new camper without these safety devices is just scary! So PLEASE everyone who bought new rigs. CHECK YOUR SAFETY EQUIPMENT!

I would expect nothing less from CW.

Ours didn't have any batteries either, the water filter looked like it had been in there for years (ours was a used unit), and after a few weeks of new discoveries that should have been part of CWs service, I began to doubt they even changed the oil like the sticker said so we had it completely serviced at Freightliner.

Overworked and understaffed has nothing to do with it. Incompetent workers and [poor management combined with bad attitudes, general disregard and lack of self pride have everything to do with it which is common after a good ma and pa shop get taken over by a huge awning installer conglomerate run by the "Profit" Marcus Lemonis. Just my experience anyway
