I remember this from the 70s

NOVA -

N - Chevrolet Nova
O - Oldsmobile Omega
V - Pontiac Ventura
A - Buick Apollo

Back in the 70s, those were all exactly the same car when you looked past the grillwork.

As reported elsewhere on IRV2, Winnebago industries recently announced purchase of the assets of what is left of Country Coach, which will likely be marketed as the upscale brand it was before the end. Maybe the Itasca brand and price point was too close to what WBGO has in mind in the future.

Cool Winnie/Itasca Sunova

My 2016 Sunova has Itasca on the front and Winnebago on the back. Title says Itasca.

The 2015 Winnebago Tour 42QD and the 2015 Itasca Ellipse 42QD are the same vehicles except for colors and a few interior designs.

My 2017 Itasca Solei says Itasca on all paperwork but everywhere on the coach it says only Winnebago. I think this was a moronic decision by Winnebago causing such confusion. For official ID, I have to say is an Itasca but to anyone looking at the coach, I have to say it is a Winnebago because the word Itasca is nowhere on the coach.

I guess Itasca is now a model name for Winnebago, just like the Tour, Journey, etc. I would expect the name Winnebago on the coach and the model would be Itasca. Just thinking out loud.

Itasca was a flanking brand which allowed Winnebago Industries to have two dealers in any given market area. This practice is very much similar to automobile industry with Ford/Mercury and Chevrolet/Pontiac as examples. With the big crash all of these flanking brands were looked at and guess what - they all were discontinued. So don't bemoan the disappearance of Itasca - just market evolution.

BTW, I have a Winnebago Itasca Navion as well but not confused.

Itasca is no more - it's not confusing.

When we bought ours we liked the color combinations better on the Itasca Sunrise version, and all of the cabinet doors had arched top from rails where the Winnebago Voyage were straight. I liked the front grill better on the Itasca as well.

I had some new Itasca emblems made last year when I updated my graphics. Perhaps I'll get some Winnebago emblems made and put them on. LOL

Don't stress, it changes nothing. But I agree, it was a dumb move to phase out a well known brand.

Likely part of the way we were told things were being run there now that management has been taken over by ex Fleetwood personnel.
