insurance

I recently moved from California to Oregon. My car insurance dropped by 60% but when I changed my motorhome insurance it doubled. Has anyone had similar experience? Any recommendations for different insurance. I currently have progressive.

I would recommend to apply for a Member's Best policy from the Mutual of Enumclaw. I have my home, autos, and motorhome on a single policy, and it is a very good deal. Please be advised that there are certain areas where you cannot qualify for such a policy.

Premiums on RV policies vary so widely from one company to another...don't be afraid to shop around. The Good Sam Agency has helped us save $, ironically, with Progressive now.

It is impossible to compare your rates to someone else. There are lots of differences, for example rates vary by state, your vehicle, your driving record, your credit rating, your accident history, your age, etc, etc. So asking how your rate compares to another person is almost pointless unless they have all the same variables as you.
I had Progressive on my motorhome for the last two year with only modest increase each year. This year it increased by over $100. I went online to get quotes including one from Progressive and I lowered my rate by over $200 with a "new" Progressive policy. I called the independent agent that wrote my initial Progressive policy and asked her to quote it with the changes I made to my coverage (upping the deductibles, etc). But it still came out higher. So I went with the online Progressive policy. Perhaps the local independent agent was getting a big commission.
