Hey, Winnebago.

Hello Winnebago,

Great job of making RVs for so many years. There are certainly great Winnebagos out there and more to come.

Is there some position within the company that you could reward your interior designers for their many years of service? Yes, reassign them and give them a "job well done."

Now, find some fresh minds to give your fabulous diesel pushers some fresh interiors. My grandma, and great grandma, love your current interiors. Sure, not many twenty year olds will be buying a Tour. But there's a lot of us nearing retirement age that like clean, attractive designs. How about making a Grand Tour with the simpler woodwork of a Tour, for starters. You might find it in you to go a little further and start removing bling.

Thanks for your ear.

Nothing Winnebago puts in any of their motorhomes is written in stone. If you want to build your own you can start with the empty shell and add anything you want. You can also add any amenity from any other coach in the Winnebago lineup as long as it can be physically installed in the body style you pick.

If you want less "bling" you can also delete anything you want. About the only things they won't delete are safety items and those that come from the chassis manufacturer.

We took a tour of the factory when we were in the market for a 2013 Adventurer. We toured several coaches and made notes as to what we did and didn't want. In the end we added a few custom items that weren't on the options list for that year.

SO... if you know what you want or don't, want get with a dealer rep and line out those items. The dealer will submit it to the factory to get prices. You should know within a week the cost and delivery date of your custom built motorhome.

Glad you found someone to listen to your custom preferences. The reps we've talked to said even simple custom work was not going to happen.

If you can't get anyone at the dealership to listen to your requests you need to either find a different dealer or talk to someone at Forest City.

Contact Winnebago Industries | Call, Mail, or Visit Winnebago.

Winnebago has specialized in making custom coaches for many years. They do everything from handicap accessible vehicles to show vehicles. They make custom motorhomes for everything from shoe manufacturers, to tool retailers, to television shows. If you tour the factory you'll see they are working on several "from scratch" specialty coaches all the time. They even have a set pricing schedule for adding and deleting options from standard motorhomes.

When we made our requests the dealer had a preprinted form to fill out complete with the description and model numbers of the options we wanted to add. To them it was an everyday occurrence. They just faxed the completed form to Winnebago. We had our pricing schedule and estimated delivery date within a week.

Have got to totally agree with the OP. The higher priced the RV the more it looks like a rolling bordello. The interior of our 2016 40R is tastefully understated. When you get into the Grand Blah Blah, they look like the worst nightmare of my mother's living room. RV manufactures really need to rethink interior design. Or maybe all those people who spend $500K+ are 80+ years old or their taste are as bad as the RV designers.

Always looking at coaches I think Newmar has come up with some more up to date interior designs. No to tame the swirls on the exterior.
Maybe they need to get some designers from out of town ?

When we were looking for a 2000-2006 class A last year, I couldn't believe all the hugely flowered mauve or light blue interiors they made. Not just Winnebago.

Everyone who makes rv's has a sister or sister in law that needs a job and they let them be the interior designer. Most of them never have lived in one. Then they go to the fabric store and buy what didn't sell at bargain basement prices.

That is one of the reasons they have so many different levels of coaches, cause beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. What others perceive as Bling some think of as beauty. They wouldn't be selling them if everyone didn't like them.

Because a Tour is not available in the 45RL. And, a Tour, even the 42 foot models, does not have multiplex wiring, keyless entry, or other things that have nothing to do with the interior.

I think that is the easiest way for manufacturers to differentiate between models. Adding more things like keyless locks, power shades is oft times not apparent to the average buyer.

So the easiest way is to make it look grander. Nothing succeeds like excess and the way to do that cheaply is to add gratuitous bling.

X2. The more high gloss, the higher the price.

For us, the 2012 Tour was about right.

Because a Tour is not available in the 45RL. And, a Tour, even the 42 foot models, does not have multiplex wiring, keyless entry, heated floor, bench dinette, side radiator, 3-stage engine brake, front disc brakes - all things that have nothing to do with looking like a bordello.

So why does it look like a bordello? Perhaps so the neighbors can easily identify you have a more expensive coach.

Multiplex, heated floors, etc are not clear indicators you paid more when you are sitting in the campground.

Now the bordello? Priceless!

You may order the keyless entry. Our MH came with keyless entry, it was built in 1999.

I am not sure what you mean by keyless.

If you mean a fob in your pocket and all you have to do is pull on the door handle we do not have it.

If you mean you have to push a button on the fob we have that as standard.

In the model I have been looking at, some elements of the interior don't even 'match' or go together.
