Gas springs for compartments

Need to replace some compartment gas springs. Mine say Gs- 5150-90winn. Where to purchase? Does 90 indicate the pounds of force? Would 60 or 70 also work?

Wm,
If you find that it means or, states 90 lb. springs, then buy 90 lb, springs. Trying to cheapen out on this kind of thing, could and quite possibly will result in an injury. Maybe even a bump on the noggin due to the fact that if you were to purchase lighter duty gas struts, they cannot do the job that a specifically higher one was listed to do. It's your choice of course but, I've replaced a few of mine and, if you've ever tried to lift those doors without both struts working at top rated pressure, THEY'RE HEAVY!

gas springs

I have been buying mine here. High Quality Automotive | Marine | Industrial Lift Supports They are local to me but they will ship to you, They can match you up by those numbers you stated. I even found the very small ones for a truck toolbox lid with them.

I needed four of the same springs, which I found on EBay. Aside from getting the proper weight rating ((90#), you also want springs with a 15" fully extended length and a retracted length of 9.25".

If you still are uncertain about the replacements, just go to your parts fische 2004 Catalog Menu (pick your year and model) and under the "Exterior Body Group" and "Structural Components" it will list each bay panel and the struts. Each tells the retracted length, extended length, and lbs which you can then use to shop around.

At least, this is where my 2004 info is found.

Keep in mind, depending which compartment, you may need the 2-stop type that hold the door horizontal and fully open if there is a slideout over it. The ones I recently replaced were "Stabilis Interstop" because of this need.

You can also find them at Camping World --- bought a replacement this past weekend --- cost was $16.95. They have several lengths and rated pounds of lift. If you have 90 pound springs on the door now, stay with 90 pounds -- a lighter one will not hold up the door.

I am sure you live near a auto parts store. Take it in and they can match it up for you. May not be in stock but they all have next day delivery now.

I just installed two of the three I bought the other day (one spare) and I have to say they work perfectly and fit perfectly. Thank you so much. For $14.90, I got a great gas spring! Thank you again!

Below is a picture of the replacement gas spring installed. In the picture you can see the part number which a replacement for spd-gs-5150-90winn. Note: They can't cross reference it, but if you need a 90lb gas spring for your Winnebago and spd-gs-5150-90winn spring, this will do the trick perfectly.
