Gas Springs

Does anyone know of a source (other than Winnebago) for the gas springs that hold up the cargo doors?

The number on the gas spring is SPD-GS-5000-60WINN.
Does the 60 in the number stand for 60psi?

Thanks

You can get them at almost any auto parts store. The 60 is the extension force in Newtons.

Some may not be "standard" and hence not available at local auto parts. But try there first. The manufacturer of the gas springs with an SPD-xxxxxx part number is below and they can fill your order exactly.
SPD gas springs and hardware - hinges, handles, drawer slides, latches, catches and locks - A Barnes Group, Inc. Company

Hi Ho: I found physically identical replacements for my coach at Auto Zone. They stocked only 2, so I made several stops (right on my way home). They were about half as much as the lifts from WI suppliers. Also, if you spend $20 or more they give you a $20 credit after five times. This is effectively a 20% discount.

Also, I found that I needed to replace only one on each door to hold the door open. They still work fine after 3 years. I guess some of us as just cheap.

Dirk

Thats what makes this site great. Many always willing to help, and often someone with just the info needed. Looks like RVDUDE has pointed you to the SPD site for ordering. Just does not get any better than that.

Try McMaster-Carr, they carry almost every size and pressure available. Go to the link below.

When I had a Lexus, they want several hundred dollars to replace each of the two cylinders that held open the trunk. I found an outfit in Vancouver that would rebuild them for less than half.

If you are interested, PM me and I'll try to dig up the guy's name.
