Question Fuel saver device

This month's FMCA magazine has an ad for a "Fuel Saver Device" for gas or diesel. Anyone familiar with it?

The only fuel saving device is the fuel pedal. Push it down hard and fuel mileage goes down, ease off and drive at 55 and fuel mileage goes up.

Common sense and it doesn't cost you anything.

Was there also an ad for snake oil? How about for swamp land in Arizona?

Yep, it's called an egg. Place it between your right foot and the accelerator pedal and avoid breaking it.

Hey, I bought some muffler bearings a long time ago. They made my exhaust spin around as it exited the tip.

To answer your question I haven't heard of it or any of those advertised that actually saved fuel. Welcome to this friendly site.

Fuel saver device

IMHO, I suspect FMCA Magazine may be "coin operated" like all others commercial publications. Want to place an add? Send money. Easy-peasy.
I would not expect anything different

I did a lot of research on fuel additives and used the one that seemed to have the most favorable reviews for my diesel ERA on a trip to Florida, expecting to get at least an increase of at least 1 to 2 mpg. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference between using or not using the additive.

I have tried several fuel saver, power increase additives. I am working on the last case of Cetane additive. While I thought I noticed a difference it was probably because I was expecting improvement. The tale of the tape indicated my expectation was not warranted.

IMO there is a 6" spot that can save the most fuel. It is the distance between the ears. Having the patience to slow down or drive to the existing conditions will do the most to save fuel.

Did anyone notice that this was the OP's first post and may have been done solely to get you to go look at the ad?

The 6" spot Gordon speaks of is a great answer... That and tire inflation pressures..

My response... I know that since th 1960s when I started paying attention there have been literally hundreds of products that all claim to increase MPG.. And since the 1970s there has been a tremendous incentive for the auto makers to do just that (increase MPG) whih is why cars back in the 50s and60s often got MPG ratings with but a single digit left of the decimil but cars today have 2 digits and the first can be as high as a FOUR (that is over 40 Miles Per Gallon Folks).

If improving MPG and thus CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) was as simply as bolting on a oh say $99.95 miracle box.. Don't you think Ford, GM, and Chrysler would factory install? (note price is a air-grab, not intended to be accurate).

But then I know Engineers who work for all of the above auto companies and more.
