Our coach warranty will expire on 11/3/08 and am contemplating buying and extended warranty. I've been really luck with our past motorhomes and never purchased one before.
I keep getting info from Good Sam and am wondering YES/NO.
Also, what other ESPs do others use and pros and cons?

We got a Platinum Warranty extension as part of our purchase. I don't know what it cost, because it was included (unit was a factory demo). I do know that it has saved us several hundred dollars in repairs - but if it was $2-3K, it was probably not worth it.
The good news is, that since our coach has gone out of warranty, we've discovered how easy it is to work on - once you get past the intimidation factor.
As with any warranty / service policy, read the fine print carefully. It's disconcerting to have a $1000 repair, only to find out that it is only covered if it failed on a Tuesday in a Leap Year during a full moon. And even then there's a $950 deductible, excluding labor and shop supplies.

Norton, we got ours when we purchased our coach used, it was 4 years old. The additional cost was about $3700.00 for 4 years. I thought that seemed rather high until I started to research other ESP's. I feel mine is VERY good!!
I found the average was $650.00 to $1000.00 a year depending on coach age.
Since our purchase of that "expensive" ESP it has paid for it's self FIVE times over and still have a 1 1/2 years left on it.
Consider the cost of labor, $100.00-$130.00 an hour and parts costs. Example, the repair facility I go to replaced 3 HP hyd. hoses that began leaking and the cost was $780.00 parts and labor, for leaky hoses. Had dash A/C repaired, had to replace complete unit, cost was $629.00 for unit and labor was 590.00. These costs add up.
As far as I am concerned, the piece of mind is worth alot and to spend $3700.00 to maintain a $134,000.00 RV is minor. Some people spend that much to enhance the performance of their RV!!
But it all comes down to a personal choice, but you do have to research them, and as porscheracer said, watch the fine print.

I also purchased the Platinum policy from the dealer. When the basement air went out the policy paid for itself. I still do the minor things, but it is nice, for me, to know that I have a backup.

3700 - 1370 = 2330. You still have to have 2330 in repairs to break even.If you put the 3700 in an intrest bearing acct. and draw off it as needed for your repairs you night be better off. Your also paying intrest on the inital 3700 for the life of the loan. Extended service protection policies are a big money maker for the insurance industry. Some people feel comfortable with them and some don't. Me don't. But then again, I never needed the service of one of the policies - and I hope I never do. JMHO Thanks.

My vote is put a block of money in a separate account and use it for repairs only as needed down the road.
