I used my cpap while boondocking. Ran it off the inverter and in the morning, the house batteries were dead. Wouldn't even start the gen set. Does that inverter draw that much power?

Finhawk, I also run a CPAP and because of what I read about the Inverter draw I chose to buy a 12 Volt cord for my CPAP and tapped into a 12 Volt Line in the overhead cabinet over the bed. My CPAP has a 12 volt feed directly into the CPAP. Check yours out and see if you have the same. I run my CPAP all the time this way and no issues with battery draw down.

The inverter definitely has a draw even when nothing else is being used. The only way to know for sure how much yours pulls is to check it with an amp meter. We never run ours when boondocking except when wanting to watch TV for a few hours, then make sure we turn it off before going to sleep. And when running ours, we need to be sure we manually switch the refrigerator to LP as it will otherwise drain the batteries very fast.

Frank has a great suggestion about 12v if your machine can run off 12v.

I did pull one of the bedroom lights and hooked up a 12V plug. Right now it's ugly with wires hanging out, but I bought wiremold with an extender box to run down the wall. The wall is only about an inch thick and filled with foam. It won't look as good as I would like but at least it'll be functional.
I couldn't even find a 12V plug in the bedroom of this thing

My Winnebago coach has a 12v power plug near the bedroom radio beside the bed. I would expect to find some somewhere in the bedroom!! If not, there is 12v power to the radio that you should be able to tie into and add a power plug you can buy at most RV parts places with a face plate, or just the plug at auto parts stores.

I think I was rooked. None in mine at all----that's why I opted to go with the wire mold---just so it wouldn't look shabby

My CPAP machine - a Respironics Remstar Pro draws a fair amount of current especially if the heated humidifier is used. The blower and circuitry will run on 12 vdc but the humidifier requires ac voltage. According to technical customer service the machine will run on a 300 watt modified sine wave inverter.

The blower and associated circuitry requires 3 amps at 12.6 volts.
For eight hours of use that would be 3 X 8 = 24 amp hours, not too bad.

The humidifier requires 170 watts. Amps = watts/volts. 170/12.6 = 13.5 amps. Eight hours of use would = 13.5 x 8 = 108 amp hours. You might want to increase that by ten percent or so to allow for the inverter efficiency. 1.1 x 108 = 119 amp hours.
Total amp hours for eight hours use would be 119 + 24 = 143 amp hours.

Depending on your battery set up that could draw it/them down overnight if your machine draws a similar amount.

Do you have an auto-start on your gen set? If so just set it up to kick on when your house batteries get down to a certain level. I also use a CPAP and have never had any problems with battery drain.

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I haven't a clue! What is CPAP?

If you don't know, consider yourself fortunate. It stands for Constant Pulmonary Air Pressure (I think) - and is used by people with sleep apnea, a potentially fatal breathing problem.

I, too, have the Remstar Pro - but I rarely use the humidifier. Also, we rarely truly boondock because I can's stand heat - so in warm weather I have to have the AC on. That's one reason I'm such an advocate of diesel generators.

Real close - Continuous Positive Airway Pressure = CPAP.
