These pictures are not the best but the idea is there. This is a big empty space just waiting to be used. 16"x23". Great project!

Jesse,

When you look under your slide on the Tour does it have rollers in the frame (roller up) supporting the slide box?

More room there than I thought.
Thanks

Do you know how many? Just comparing to the '14 Journey 42e to the '13 Tour to see what was done to help fix the slide problems. There are 6 rollers mounted in the frame supporting the box, one at each end, one in the middle, two more evenly spaced under the kitchen end and one more evenly spaced under under the couch end.

From the sounds of it your Tour only had 3, prior to your installation ? Nice work by the way getting another roller in while the box was still there was quite a feat.

There were 4 rollers to start. That is interesting that your 14 Journey has 6.
Thanks Rich

Hi Dennis,

When did they start with Powergear and HWH? I have been checking out the new Grand T/E as dealers are posting pictures and videos. It looks like the units highlighted so far still have Lippert jack controls and at least the Schwintek gear rails installed on the slides.

I inquired about the Grand Tour that recently arrived at Lazy Days. The pictures they sent me sure looks like it has the Schwintek racks too.

I was poking around checking everything that moves to make sure nothing was binding. Noticed the roller marks and the extra plates in the bottom of the slide. I pulled back the gasket to find and inspect the rollers and ensure all were holding up the slide to keep the weight of the v-roller. I am a bit concerned as I can see a slight movement in the slide when in transit, especially after an hour or two and the slide has loosened up a bit.

I asked the dealer about Winnebago supplied slide locks and was told that yes Winnebago would provide 2 slide locks if requested. I did. I will try them out in a few weeks.

Were the rollers spread evenly apart from end to end? Also what is the amp draw differential between the front and rear motors with the newest roller added ?

Jesse,
Thank you so much for the photos. Great job. Now I need to go count the number of rollers and find your article on setting the amps.

Rich and Jesse,
I will re-contact my source. I understood it was going to be an in-line change sometime in December. Maybe they are going to wait until the 2016 model?? Either way, I would wait.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Please describe slight movement.
Front, back, bottom, top, how much, how often.

There were one at each end and 2 in the middle. The two at the rear are closer together.

Before adding 5th roller and adjusting

Motor 1 sliding out from 1.85 to 4.60 amps
Motor 1 sliding in from 1.70 to 4.40 amps
Motor 2 sliding out from 2.15 to 4.85 amps
Motor 2 sliding in from 1.80 to 5.20 amps

After adding 5th roller and adjusting

Motor 1 sliding out from 1.65 to 3.05 amps
Motor 1 sliding in from 1.40 to 3.30 amps
Motor 2 sliding out from 1.80 to 3.70 amps
Motor 2 sliding in from 1.70 to 3.70 amps

Jesse, I looked on line and in Granger for these and found no supplier. Where did you get yours?

Our 2013 42e also has 6 rollers but we did have a new complete slide mechanism installed December of 2014. Not sure if they installed additional rollers at that time or if they came with unit new.

Glad someone else confirmed the 6 rollers, I was doubting myself and my coach is 1500 miles away right now so I could not confirm it.

That was quite a change for the better in the amperage per motor. I assume that those are the running amperage as peak draw would be greater to trigger the motor shutdown at the end of the movement.

As to the movement inside the frame. It more of a floating motion and may be the floor flexing slightly over bumps and turns, god knows these things are not Roll-Royce smooth by any stretch of the imagination. It could very well be the same in other coaches, just with the known issues I may be paying more attention to the slides.

I have had a MH for 10 yrs and other than a couple of shear bolts on my Phaeton have never had a major slide issue. (knock...knock...knock)

Fortunately read about it on the Tiffin forum and had a couple of Grade 8 bolts just for the occasion. I do miss the Tiffin forum, what a great resource for troubleshooting...Though y'all seem up to the task here as well.

Let us know what you find Dennis, I have 400k just burning a hole in my pocket.
