Chad and I are going away on our own this weekend for our anniversary. We've never been in Winnie on our own. No kids, no dog We are leaving on Thur and coming back on Sunday. Each year for our anniversary we take turns planning surprise trips for each other. It was my turn this year. I found a campground about 3 hours from here that is part of R.O.D. so we can go for free. There is a place nearby to go canoeing and some nice restaurants. I am really looking forward to this !! We have so much less to take since it is just us. No tent, cots, kennel, extra bike rack, etc.

We will take our usual evening walk at dusk and look for fellow Winnie owners

Look for fellow Winnie owners? Oh yeah....sure you will!

You'll feel like you've lost an arm or something without the kids! Have a nice weekend.

The reason I say look for other people is that when we have the kids/dog walking with us we can never stop and chat with people. It's hard to really pay attention to what other people are camping in when I am trying to keep the dog from hiding behind me everytime he hears a noise, or I have the kids chatting away in my ear. I enjoy checking out how people have set up their site and what kind of awning lights they have, etc. Gives me ideas Don't get me wrong- I LOVE camping with the kids. I am just looking forward to being with just Chad and doing things we don't normally get to do

We will have been married for 16 years this Thursday. We met in 9th grade choir class and were married just a month before I turned 19.

Sorry...it's Resorts of Distinction. It's a membership club similar to coast to coast and others. We pay $99 a year through the local campground we bought a membership at, and then we can stay at any of the R.O.D campgrounds across the country for free or a nominal charge.

We are also going out this weekend to celebrate our anniversary.
Our anniversary is the 24th - #35 for us.
The kids are long gone so we don't have to worry about those interruptions any more.

BTW the dog is going with us!

We had a GREAT weekend. It was the first time we were in Winnie just the two of us...there is so much room, lol. We went rafting, to an air show, and hung out around the campground. We did notice something unusual. There were 63 campsites and they were about 75% full. We were the ONLY ones with awning lights It didn't say it the rules that you couldn't have them. I have never been to a CG where no one had lights on !!

The CG itself was ok...a bit neglected and we didn't get the full hook ups we requested. But we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves. We leave in 3 days for our BIG South Dakota trip.

Glad you had a nice weekend alone! That campsite looks nice and spacious. And it is strange that there were no other awning lights. We always put our lights up, and also have a small lamp that we plug in under the awning to give it a homey feel.

I would love it if Christy and I could get out alone in our rig someday without the 4 girls. I'll keep dreaming.
