Getting Frustrated

I left 3 emails for Winnebago and no one is responding so maybe its me. I own a 2016 Itasca Meridian 40r and I cannot figure out how to secure the 2 exterior vent covers that cover the exhaust ducts for the stove and clothes dryer exhaust. My old unit had little tabs that enabled you to secure the covers but the new units do not. They are flapping around while the motor home is in motion and its driving us nuts. Does anyone know how to secure these covers.

X2 - have been corresponding with WBGO recently and response is always prompt.

Any chance of calling your dealer. They would be the fastest to pickup the phone or a message.

I spoke to my dealer and the reply they gave me was "Oh that's one of those new units...you will need to call Winnebago for that"

We used in a previous rig magnetic tape. Had to add scotch tape to the magnetic tape to reduce its catching power which took a while to finesse but it worked fine for many years.

We have found the it takes 1-2 weeks for Winn to respond to email. We have tried the phone but are on hold for so long we don't do it unless we have a land line.

If you call customer service you may be on the phone a while but once you get a person I have always gotten a very capable one who helped me. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. You might try their phone line.

We have a 2015 Journey 40R and the stove exhaust vent flapper valve rattles badly at highway speed. La Mesa used silicone to glue it shut. We took it to Forest City and the factory added some pads, but it still rattled. We couldn't take it anymore, so I stuffed paper in the vent and that shut it up. Now, it's at the dealer for service and we'll see what, if anything, they can do.

Using silicone to glue the flapper down, or stuffing the vent with paper ??? Won't gases that are supposed to be exhausted flood back into the coach ?

We don't use the exhaust fan in this condition.

I've had no response from email - but successfully used the phone, after a longish wait...

PS - you'll get much better advice from the folks on here - but your subject line has to say something about the flappers...so people will read it.

I remember those latches they rigs used to have for the stove vents, but I haven't sen them for a while.

We're going to the RV show tomorrow, so I will look around and let you know what I find!

Tom,

At the RV show, almost no manufacturer had the flaps secure on the stove vents. Every vent had the flapper that was flapping in the breeze. I saw no magnets or catches of any kind on any rig, even up to big diesel pushers.

The one exception was Airstream trailers - they had two little locking levers on the outside. I'm not sure we would always remember to unlatch them...

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have always called Customer Service at 1-800-537-1885 and got results, and sure you have to wait as they have only 3 customer service reps.

The email address is: [email protected].

Keep trying and they will help you.
