Bedroom Cabinetry Options

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

We are currently living full-time in our RV in NW Georgia and because of such we need clothing storage way more than a TV in our bedroom. I have pulled the TV from the wall between the two closets and would like to mount a cabinet for pants, shirts, etc. over the window. I'mm looking for something similar to what is over the bed or in the galley/kitchen.

I checked on the WinnebagoInd.com website but only found a shelf available. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket cabinet available? I could probably build a custom one once we aren't in the RV full time but right now I don't have access to a workshop/garage.

Thanks again!

I'd take the measurements and head to the nearest Ikea to see if they have something already made that will fit the bill. If you have a screwdriver and the allen key they give you you can assemble everyhting they sell! LOL
That may be the cheapest/easiest way around the issue.

2 things..

Can you post a picture or 2?

Is there a Maker Space near you? Here, there is one that has a full woodworking shop (among many other amenities, including metal working). You can join it for a monthly fee, or, membership is free during special weekly hours with your library card.

So, it looks like there is a Makervillage only 25 minutes away! So, I'll have to check that out. I didn't even know those existed!

Not sure how to attach images so I'll have to play with that some.

Thank you!

That looks about like the Forest Cherry wood color in our 2014 Sunstar. If so, I can tell you how to mix your own to color match it.

I also figured out how to put an edge detail on the doors and drawer fronts that's close enough without the special router bit.

Home Depot birch is a pretty good grain match.

Oh, and I have a line on the matching door and drawer pulls as well.

(So far in our Sunstar, I've built 2 light boxes over the front seats where the StudioLoft bed was, a folding table for over the doghouse, a drawer under one booth bench, and a drop down door under the other, plus another shelf in the cabinet above the toilet.)

Go for it!

What are the dimensions of the opening/cabinet that you want?

SLO - as we have a 2015 Sunstar, I'd love to see the mods you've done. Not that I'm planning on any, but you never know. If you've seen it, I have a shower problem going now posted in this same newsletter.

To the OP. Although ours already came with shelves in that area, not cabinets, we solved the problem differently. The shelves have a small raised area in the front to keep things from just sliding off. We just use medium+ sized good plastic bins with lids for l/s tee shirts, sweaters, sweat shirts, light jackets etc., but the could store most anything.

We, personally, don't mind looking at the bins at all and it was instant storage. Further, while they may seam insecure, not one has even moved, much less fallen in about 15k miles of all kinds of roads.

Good luck - post pics when you're done.

Thanks for the interest, Upinsmoke.

Rather than jack this thread, I started another one of just pictures and text of my Sunstar projects and mods.
