Camco Extend A Stay Findings

So, the wife and I are full timing in the Adventurer while our house is being built and I had installed the Extend A Stay so that we could hook up an external propane tank. The internal tank finally ran out of propane so I shut the valve on the internal tank and opened the valve on the external tank.

All seemed in order but when we went to bed we noticed that it was getting colder in the coach and the heater was not running. I would turn the gas heat off and then on again but it would only blow cold and then shut off. The stove top worked as well as the water heater so I was focused on the gas furnace having an issue of some kind. However, I did notice that the flames on the stove top burner were flickering and not staying steady so I started thinking about the Extend A Stay.

I replaced the Camco Extend A Stay with the "Stay Longer Plus Propane Kit" from the Marshall Excelsior Company and the gas furnace fired right up and has been working ever since. Just wanted to report this in the event someone has the same issue.

Regards

Good info. Plan to have this mod installed before attending the Geriatrics Woodstock (Quartzite) gathering in Jan/Feb.

Assuming it is not air in the line that was not totally bled out?
Not remembering exactly but I kinda/sorta/maybe think it is where the extend-stay is installed in relation to the regulator?
Maybe worth a search for some written info on how and where it is to be installed would leave room for some daylight/
No personal experience with it but seems like something I read when considering one.

It could also be as simple as a piece of rust or other contaminant that partially clogged the Extend A Stay.

My extend a stay is working fine. I installed it between the thank and the regulator. I did have a leak problem this last trip. I didn't shut off the tank. We were parked and a trucker knocked on the door. LP smell caught his attention. I shut the tank off. The connectors had all loosed up! No more traveling with the tank on. Lesson learned.
Like any product, the OP may have gotten a defective unit.
