A/C condenser cleaning

I’d like to clean the condenser fins of the basement unit in my 2000 Winnie Adventurer. I’ve noticed salt deposits from a trip to the shore. Can I just lightly hose them off. Not familiar with this unit as it’s new to me and don’t want to damage anything that might be behind it. Thanx!

My maintenance regimen: Regularly I spray out the condenser coils with a garden hose. Strong stream, careful not so strong as to bend the fins. Then mix Simple Green HD (purple) in a clean garden sprayer and spray the coils to degrease. Then rinse the coils with the garden hose, then rinse the coils again with distilled water using a clean garden sprayer. Because city water will leave hard water deposits on the fins.

So I assume all of the water will drain from the unit ok then? That was what I was worried about.

I sprayed a foam coil cleaner on mine that I bought off ebay, and lightly sprayed with garden hose after a few minutes. I didn't spray it real heavy.

Farco, looking at your plans is seems your condenser coils are in the same place as ours, i.e., passenger side rear quarter.

Yes, water (including rain) sprayed into the condenser coils will drain to ground.

However, the cooling coils, probably accessed from inside the coach, should only be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

billyb gives you another cleaner option. Since most condenser coils are copper alloy tubes with aluminum fins you just need a degreaser that is non corrosive to those metals.
